What kind of retreats do you offer?
I offer both custom individual retreats as well as group and staff retreats for nonprofit organizations and corporate clients.
Group retreats can take many forms. They can be to stave off or recover from Burnout, Secondary Trauma, and (the combination therein, known as) Compassion Fatigue or Vicarious Trauma. These are typically in-person retreats with hand-on exercises and plenty of time for reflection designed to target these critical issues. They can be organized around a single day, or multiple days depending on the needs and resources of the organization. Please see the page on Compassion Fatigue for more detail on my approach.
Custom individual retreats and/or alternate-week sessions can also take many forms and are typically organized around a specific theme or topic.
All of my offerings take a contemplative approach. Contemplative retreats center around silence and solitude as both the goal of our time together and the instrument by which we achieve it. Contemplative practices allow us to better hear ourselves, others, God, and, paradoxically, to remain centered when we feel we cannot hear anything at all.

What is a Custom Individual Retreat?
Custom individual retreats are tailored to your specific needs and can be organized around a particular project, life transition, spiritual question, or really anything you’d like more focused and guided time to contemplate. These are typically remote and self-paced, with a session at the beginning, another at the end, and prompts throughout.
For clients with a particular project or topic who wish to draw on my background as a researcher and/or additional trainings or certifications, I can do something more in-depth. These more specialized custom retreats have included:
As a former writer, these can be writing or journaling retreats, if meaningful.
These can be one-off events, or something we do regularly, building on a theme. Again, they’re really custom. You just let me know what you need.

Where do I go to retreat?
Most of the retreats I offer, especially the custom individual retreats, can be offered remotely. Some folks stay home to do it, others book a room somewhere for absolute solitude.
Since some remote clients sometimes drive or fly in to see me, I’ve started telling them about Bon Secours retreat center. It’s about half an hour from my office in Baltimore, and ideal for this kind of retreat. This entails a session with me, staying at Bon Secours, and another session with me at the end. Rates for staying at the center are $132/night (with 3 meals) or $52/day (no overnight, but 2 meals). You could drive in to my office in Baltimore for 1 or both sessions, or I could meet you there for our sessions. You might enjoy incorporating some walking meditation into your retreat.
